About me

After stints in Leipzig and Marburg, many years in Berlin and a detour to Switzerland, I, Bastian Richter, have now found a home in Friesland in the Netherlands, where I have now written ten books, renovated an old bakery and cruised the local waters on my old barge. I’m always drawn back to Italy, where the Venetian amateur detective Mafalda Cinquetti came into my life.

Some time has passed since Mafalda Cinquetti’s last adventures. Time that has changed her life considerably. And also time that has made the previously unthinkable conceivable.

As a foretaste of the new, now third volume of the Mafalda Cinquetti series which will be published in summer 2025, a free e-book (epub and pdf) and a free audiobook (mp3 and YouTube) will be available to download here from May 1st.

The new story will probably be the first chapter of the third volume. It is therefore both a preview of the new volume and Mafalda’s new adventures in Venice, as well as a gentle introduction to the changes that lie ahead.
